Not the night we wanted to say the least. We were decent in practice and were super consistent all day.
I started outside pole in the heat race and I knew I had the car to win it. As I was going for the lead with 2 to go, I got tangled up with a veteran driver also fighting for the lead. Unfortunately, that essentially took the whole front end of my car off and tweaked some things up front so I had to pull into the pits prematurely. Just one of those racing deals.
For the feature, we got the car back together and only got 6 or 7 laps in before my power steering belt and water pump belt both came off, ending my race very early.
It definitely wasn’t the points night I needed on double points night, but I can’t say enough about the effort our team put into this car after the accident. I can’t thank my dad, Matt Clemens, Mr and Mrs. Clemens, Shakey Jake Lewis, Tim Zee, Daniel Clemens, Todd Maland, AJ Maland, and Jackson Maland enough for everything they threw at this car to get it back together for the feature. I can’t stress how grateful I am to have a team like this.
We’ll get her going again for next week. Glad I got my first major battle scar out of the way. I’m sure there will be more incidents to come, but last night was still a huge confidence boost for me.
