What a way to rebound after our wreck two weeks ago. Going from not even sure if we would be able to race, to winning the Night of Features at Grundy County Speedway. We were fastest in both practices and the car felt solid all day. I qualified first yet again as well. Come feature race time, I was inverted to 6th. I made a couple passes on the outside to get to third and then battled with the 27 of Alex Ertmann to get to second. Once I made the pass for second, it was a constant battle for the lead between me and the 13 car of Jamie Domski. I made the pass on him but lost it after I muffed the restart with 13 to go. Somewhere along the way, I was able to get by the 13 car again. I was coming to the white flag and shortly before, the caution flag flew for a wreck in turn 2. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to hold my lead on the last restart with two to go. Fortunately, I had a very good restart and pulled away from the field to win what was probably the biggest race of my career. The stands were full, I had family, friends, teachers, and neighbors who came to the race to watch. Huge thank you to Steve Naples and Mike Naples who put in hours of labor to get my car back on the race track. Thank you to Jamie Domski, his father, and Randy Mucha of Michael Mucha Racing for always helping us when problems arise for us in the pits. Thank you to Kar Silver for shooting photography of the Central States Region Racing group. Lastly thank you to my sponsors, Coler Chiropractic, Brenda Wallace Scannell, True Power Motor Oil, Boy Scouts Troop 475, the Gibson Family, Rustic Woods Stables. Points Standings are close, as I’m only 2 points out of first place. We have one more points race left at a road course, Gingerman Raceway. Looking forward to getting out there In attempt to win a championship!
